Privacy Policy for SmartNotes

SmartNotes ("the App", "we", "us") is a note-taking app with AI-assisted features (summaries, writing enhancement, and translation), voice recording, photo capture, and drawing. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Account info (name, email, profile photo) via Google or Apple Sign-In	Authenticate you and sync your notes across devices
Notes content — text, voice recordings, photos, drawings, checklists	Stored so you can access and sync your notes (Firebase Firestore & Cloud Storage)
Note text you submit to an AI action (Summarize, Enhance, Translate)	Sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the requested result — only the text you submit for that action, nothing else from your account. Not used to train AI models by us. The App asks for your permission the first time you use any AI action, before anything is sent.
Subscription & purchase status	Processed via RevenueCat and Apple's App Store to manage your Pro subscription and usage limits

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage
Google Generative AI (Gemini) — powers AI Summarize/Enhance/Translate features
RevenueCat — subscription management
Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchase processing

Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy policies and is contractually required to protect it to a standard equal to what this policy describes. We do not sell your personal data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Data Storage & Security

Your notes and account data are stored securely in Firebase, access-controlled so only your authenticated account can read or modify your own notes.

Your Choices

You can delete individual notes at any time from within the App.
You can permanently delete your entire account — including your notes and any uploaded files — directly in the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account). This is immediate and cannot be undone.
You can also use the App entirely without an account — tap "Continue without an account" on the sign-in screen to keep your notes stored locally on your device only, with no account or sign-in required.
AI features are optional — the App is fully usable for manual note-taking without ever using Summarize, Enhance, or Translate.

Children's Privacy

SmartNotes is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
